Christmas Stories - The beginning of Sweet Candy Cane

I love Christmas stories, and history of the Candy Cane was a Christmas tradition is particularly interesting. Especially since this is my son's favorite Christmas.

The Candy Cane as we know it today was invented as a tool to keep children quiet.

Back in 1670, a choirmaster at Cologne Cathedral in Germany, began a well known candy, a candy cane and bent one end to resemble a shepherd's crookduring the long Christmas church ceremony. This new idea quickly spread to the United States, where he started churches in the tradition itself.

Top candy canes ceremonies are usually reserved for religious-themed Christmas. But in 1847, Irmgard August, a German immigrant, receive candy canes on the Christmas tree in his Wooster, Ohio.

Originally they were all white. Then in 1920 a man named Bob McCormack began with red stripes. He continued this tradition of making each hand.

Around 1950, brother Bob McCormack, a Catholic priest named Gregory Keller invented a machine that automated the production process.

Well, we all enjoy candy canes, from the traditional red and white striped peppermint candies, fruity taste to those colorful way.

I do not know if they were with the concept of "Sugar High" back in 1670. Today is the use of sugarList of most people, how to keep children quiet. But I am glad that the choir is not bothered by that, for our holiday celebrations even sweeter because of his invention. And is a great Christmas story.
